Im thinking BS Failed screen message means Im to far away from the DMR repeater for it to work well? Im trying for a DMR repeater 100ks away and seems to work sometimes and when it does not I get a BS Failed message on the radio screen. thanks Graeme VK2GCF

BS means base station or in your case a repeater, and that message will show if your transmission has not been acknowledged by the other station, ie no coverage.

BS Failed mean your Repeater or Hotspot is not responding.
I had same issue on my Repeater and i try with CDR300 i had BS failed.
so i took my mobile and MD380 to try and had same thing long beep that RPT is not available.
I have to reboot Pi-Star of the repeater and then it worked.
It is like putting a fake Frequency in your channel and result will be the same.
