I know it's a minor thing, but it's persisted from Kydera and now through Retevis firmwares: in the menu Appendix, APRS, is found "Analog ARPS" which is silly. Also seen in the "ARPS" menu, is the next screen with the title "ARPS".
Also, I'm completely unable to enter numbers into any screen requiring alphanumeric values such as "APRS upload text", "APRS upload path". Pressing the buttons on the hand MIC only gives uppercase letters, space, or symbols but I cannot discover a button combination which yields numbers. I would prefer that the buttons operate in a similar fashion as old SMS phones and some other embedded devices, where you punch the number repeatedly and cycle through the native number, plus the alpha characters found on that button. 1, would cycle special characters, and zero provides space, and other remaining special characters.
One last thing for today: What's the deal with RSSI/S-meter??? I cannot find a way to display the values of received signal strength. There's some "bars" in the screen, but they seem meaningless and they do not display anything under any circumstances except while PTT. Even while PTT i have no means to know the power level being TX unless I edit the channel! I would prefer that some sort of display exists that can show me received analog signal strength, either in RSSI-dBm, S-units, or SNR. Also would REALLY appreciate a signal diagnostic display for digital mode such as BER, and/or RSSI!!
my FW is shown as:
DRS-300UV
909E.D4.EARSAB.013.
F136-174,F400-480
Dec 7 2021
17:25:15
which is the supplied firmware with my Kydera unit purchased in april 2022 from USA reseller.
