Has anyone managed to use the digital APRS? I use the same configuration as other DMR Radios (anytone) with no success.
The configuration of my GPS position send channel is:
GPS ON (good Satellites signal) Frequency of my local repeater, correctly selected.
Slot 2
Private call
TG 214999 (the one used in Spain).
My current CPS and FW version is 28 Gen 2021
Thank you

hi,
I haven't tried it but a colleague also confirmed that it doesn't work!
but then it can only be used on the Brainmaister network?
there is a video or explanations in a group on FB on how to set it up, have you seen it? if not ... I can send you the pdf on how to do it by e-mail ....

Thanks Rudy, I've already seen those videos. But they do not solve the problem. I am in contact directly with Retevis, they have answered me. I have been asked for my codeplug to assess the problem. I've already sent them to Retevis (Yamy). I have a lot of experience making codeplugs for various radios from different manufacturers.

With firmware 109e.d4.EARSAB.007.F136-480 APRS does not work in DMR. YES it works in FM. I also see some misconception. The analog APRS only works if the radio is in FM mode. If we have the analog aprs activated but we have a DMR channel tuned, it does not work. I think that the ideal thing would be that the APRS sends the data to the network at all times, if the equipment is in FM, that it uses the analog format, and if it is in DMR mode, that it uses the digital format. No need to change configuration. Simply, if the aprs is activated, let it use the appropriate channel, digital or analog or both if possible.

good afternoon friends! can someone describe the process of setting up APRS so that the station automatically sends coordinates? The coordinates go through the repeater to aprs.fi, but very unpredictable and not stable.

The equipment will send your GPS position ONLY by the frequency, talkgroup and slot that you have programmed in the channel selected for this purpose in DMR SERVICES, with the periodicity also programmed in the same section (60s recommended). Also, it will only send position if you have selected a DIGITAL channel in the vfo or memory. And of course, in your BrandMeister selfcare you have to activate the APRS service, and select the CHINESSE radio type. I hope this information has served you. In the APRS section, only the analog APRS configuration works, the rest, the digital programming, the equipment ignores it, it is not implemented in the radio fw.

R8AFO do You use Digital or Analog APRS ? Digital APRS: You could use either Motorola or Chineese in Brandmeister, I use Motorola and it works fine for Digital APRS.I use TG 240999 (for Sweden) via our DMR-repeater, my FW and CPS in my Kydera 300 are the latest for Retevis 73. I've tested both Analog and Digital APRS and it works fine.

On the latest firmware and CPS, Digital APRS works as it should. At least from the little testing I've done through my hotspot and local repeater. Local repeaters are DMR+ so I use TG 5059. As in the image below I have 3 channels setup. One for TS1, one for TS2 and the 3rd channel for the hotspot on Zone 1 Channel 1. Be sure to go into the channel list and change the last column "APRS" to correspond to the channel number you setup on the APRS tab. Now if you have a channel setup with APRS selected in either VFO A or B and GPS is enabled. It will send APRS updates at the timer rate you set in the CPS. Of course it's only going to successfully send when you are in range of a repeater, or hotspot. AND The timeslot you are sending APRS packets to is not in use, I did notice that a number of updates were sent but not received by the repeater because it was already transmitting on that timeslot. I've never used Analog APRS, not really sure if there is any Analog IGate nodes in my area, so I can't say whether that works the same but I'd imagine if your settings are all correct then sending APRS via analog would work as well.

I'll also note that the GPS settings in the "DMR Service" tab (GPS Interval and GPS Channel) are set to OFF. My AnyTone was also receiving the APRS packets I was sending through the hotspot. The location is wrong as I was using the Fixed Location setting because I couldn't get a GPS Fix indoors.. and I've no idea how the CPS wants the coordinates formatted. Seems like Degrees, Minutes with no Seconds which doesn't seem very accurate. Not sure why you'd need to use a fixed location on APRS anyway, seems to defeat the purpose of sending a location

Sorry Dave, but it doesn't work for me like it should. Regardless of the APRS channel you select in the APRS column of any digital channel, it always sends the frame on the digital channel selected in DMR SERVICES. If I want it to send the frame on the channel (frequency) that I have currently tuned in, and it is different from the one indicated in DMR SERVICES, it will not do so. It will always continue to send on the channel selected in DMR Services. I have checked it thoroughly. While the Analog APRS, it works correctly, when you select channel 9 (APRS ANALOG) in the APRS tab. Thanks for your answer
