Hi is there a way to enter a Talkgroup manually once I am on a repeater (or hotspot) and would like to switch to a talkgroup that is defined in my contacts list but NOT defined for this zone/channel as going into contacts from the menu will let me send a message but no option to switch to that talkgroup. Same question but if the talkgroup is not even defined in the contact is there anyway to switch to it? For example im in a statewide and want to switch to tac 314 and i only had tac 310 and tac 311 defined? Thanks!

Yes. you can either select from pre-installed contact list in radio menu, or choose private call from menu and type in the TG number on the mic/keypad and PTT it. Don't forget you must be on the dynamic slot of the repeater, not the static group slot.

If I go into the contacts menu and then contact list and select a talkgroup, when I say "OK" I get two options (1) Sendmsg and (2) Edit. neither one of those change the current talkgroup to a new one? If I go into the contacts menu and then manual dial and enter a talkgroup manually (e.g 314) and then press the menu button for "ok" I end up at a menu with 2 options Application and Sendmsg. If I choose Application I can choose "Radio Check" or "Call Alert" or "Remote Mon" or "Radio Disable" none of which are related to what I would like to do i.e change the talkgroup manually so sorry - Im not following your reply as to how you manage to get this working?

Okay I got it - took me a little while playing around and also looking at instructions for a different radio entirely. For anyone else (besides me) that may have been confused. When you DO have the contact (just not in your zone/channel) 1. From radio menu go into (SELECT) contacts: 2. SELECT "Contact List" 3. Scroll down to HIGHLIGHT the contact you want but DONT press SELECT instead press the PTT button on your mic to talk. The radio will TX on that talkgroup it will NOT change the radio menu to this talkgroup. If you want to hear the response your radio will need to be in promiscuous mode I think. When you DO NOT have the contact. 1. From the radio menu go into (SELECT) contacts: 2. SELECT "Manual Dial" 3. From the mic keypad enter the talkgroup number that you want. 4. Press the PTT button on your mic to talk. The radio will TX on that talkgroup it will NOT change the radio menu to this talkgroup. If you want to hear the response your radio will need to be in promiscuous mode I think.
THANK YOU G7RGQ - my fault just had to expand on your original CORRECT instructions to understand what you said. '73

Yes, I should have mentioned that. As soon as you highlight the group/radio you want..just PTT rather then select. But you got there in the end. That's how you learn..getting it wrong first lol..
