Hi to all ,
someone managed to get the GPS to work on the BrandMeister network and have location tracked on aprs.fi?
If so, can you post the configuration?
Regards

APRS support should be in a new firmware coming end of October.

As far as I can tell the existing GPS function is some sort of proprietary broadcast that can be picked up by other radios with the same firmware to figure out relative proximity, Im inferring this from the "incoming gps message" and "map" screens on the radio. Obviously this is not a lot of use in either the amateur or commercial world where compliance with ARS messaging is required to enable reception by dispatch systems (commercial) or brandmeister/aprs (amateur). Hopefully this is on a roadmap somewhere.

After more investigation it seems that Motorola radios send positions as part of ARS (hytera are similar but use a variant) whereas chinese radios send the information in an SMS. It does seem this radio is sending something in an SMS but brandmeister sends a message back saying its in the wrong format :-( apparently it should be of the form "aprs lat long" with lat and log in decimal

Okay further investigation the radio sends out GNSS style NEMA data in an SMS. It looks as though brandmeister might support this (though possibly not from SMS), the investigation continues

It has been tested with Correct results (but an issue with timings) by using TG5057 by EA3IJS (As showing at: www.pistar.uk/dmr_dmr+_talkgroups.php ) Yes, it also shows 9xxx TGs and they have NOT yet been tested.

So Vivian Xu from Retevs wrote "I am sorry, On RT73, it does not support digital APRS now."
It would be intresting, if the vendor means there is no function and EA3BIL, who claims a positve test result *conf*
