I have been getting reports that my audio is a little muffled. I was recently talking to a friend with the same CDR-300UV and his audio was quite muffled to the point I had trouble deciphering what he was saying.
Maybe this is an issue with the mic itself, I would be interested in comments please.

well we are used to talk on the top part of microphone but this one is a Speaker Mic and the large top part is Speaker and the Mic in the tiny hole at the bottom of the mike so you need to speak at the bottom or the mic and it should help a lot.

The ptt doesn't keyup the tx, I opened the case and notice that is no contact between the ptt and the micro switch, so I added a couple os small pieces of black tape to close the space, tested and works. You can also use a different mic on the side where you plug the program cable.

Cant say I have a problem with the Audio being muffled but, Have had the PTT play up a bit. Once in a blue moon if I dont quite push in the right place, she will not tx even though you can feel and hear her clicking.

You can talk closely into the microphone hole, you can drill a larger diameter, but all this will not give a good result. The simplest and most effective method is to take two or three microphones from old unnecessary mobile phones. You need to replace the regular microphone with the most sonorous ones that YOU have dug up in your stash boxes. After several attempts, luck will come to you. There are very high-quality microphones in old mobile phones.

I will also recommend checking the soldering quality and eliminating defects. Rinse the printed circuit board with isopropyl alcohol and cover with a special varnish in two layers. The service life of your microphone will be extended for a long time. Alas, but it is necessary to put Chinese hardware in order - this is a fact...

Really the welding of the cable presents many problems, it seems that they have been carried out by schoolchildren. In most of the microphones that I have disassembled, the cables were too frayed, bad solders, excess tin, lack of tin... I've seen it all. As r3fh says, it is highly recommended to disassemble the microphone and check the soldering of the cable.
